Early Career Research Support in Interdisciplinary Social Science for Academic Year 2012-3
PLEASE NOTE: THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS FOR THIS COMPETITION HAS NOW PASSED.
The Submitted Application: In order to be considered for the award, all applications must comprise the following:
1. A completed Application Form (to be presented in the format provided, see How to Apply), which will include:
a) An Abstract (300 words) of the research’s aims, methods, contribution to knowledge, and value in realising the goals of ISRF.
b) A completed Research Project Proposal form (1500 words – as described below).
c) The Budget, to comprise a full outline of employment costs and overheads, to include any research expenses.
d) The name of at least one independent academic Referee who the Foundation may choose to approach to assess the Proposal.
2. A Curriculum Vitae – including list of publications
3. Institutional Approval – confirmation that the applicant’s home institution is aware of the application, along with contact details for the relevant Administrative Officer
4. A Letter of Support from a recognised scholar in the applicant’s field of interest, covering:
a) The applicant’s status (personal academic reference)
b) The research proposed (brief comment on how this meets the ISRF criteria)
c) Why the research would not be funded by existing resources
This must be sent from the nominated scholar direct to ISRF.

The Research Project Proposal: All applicants will be expected to provide the following details as part of their proposal (maximum of 1500 words total):
- The Research Idea: The innovative thesis of the project.
- The Focus: The real-life problems motivating investigation.
- Background: Current research reference points and their limitations.
- Theory and evidence-base: How these innovatively challenge and improve on incumbent approaches.
- Methodology: How proposed methods link theory with social reality.
- Output: Mechanisms for academic dissemination.
- Relevance: How ISRF’s goals may be furthered by the research.
